In today’s digital landscape, 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) is a must to protect your accounts from unauthorized access. It adds an extra layer of security by requiring not just your password but also a unique code generated by an authenticator app.

Here’s how 2FA works:

  • A secret key is stored in an authenticator app, typically on your mobile phone.
  • When you log in, Odoo will ask for a time-sensitive code from the authenticator app, making it difficult for unauthorized users to access your account even if they know your password.

Popular Authenticator Apps:

  • Authy
  • FreeOTP
  • Google Authenticator
  • LastPass Authenticator
  • Microsoft Authenticator

How to Enable 2FA in Odoo:

1️⃣ Log in to Odoo and click on your profile avatar in the upper-right corner.

2️⃣ Select “My Profile” from the drop-down menu.

3️⃣ Enforce 2FA for all users:

  • Go to Main Odoo Dashboard ‣ Apps.
  • Remove the Apps filter from the search bar, then search for “2FA by mail.”
  • Click Install on the 2FA by mail module.
  • In the Account Security tab, toggle Two-Factor Authentication to active.

Why Use 2FA?

Without 2FA, all it takes is a compromised password to gain access to your systems. But with 2FA in place, a hacker would also need physical access to your authenticator app—raising the bar for potential attackers.

Take control of your security—protect your business and your customers with 2FA today.
